ASX set to edge higher; $A jumps; Election day surge on Wall Street

- Wall Street surged overnight as voting in the US Presidential race entered its final hours. The Dow gained 2.1%, The S&P 500 1.8% and the NASDAQ 1.9%
- The Aussie dollar jumped 1.6% to 71.68 US cents, hitting a near three-week high of 71.74 US cents
- Spot gold rose 0.6% to $US1906.97 an ounce, Brent crude was up 2% and US oil 2.4%, while iron ore fell 0.8% to $US117.09 per tonne
