ASX set to edge higher; Iron ore and oil slip

  • ASX futures were up 0.1% after a mixed session on Wall Street overnight, where the Nasdaq and S&P 500 rose but the Dow fell
  • Donald Trump has become the first president in US history to be impeached twice after the US House of Representatives found him guilty of inciting last week’s deadly riot at the Capitol
  • Iron ore slipped 1.5% to $170.11 a tonne and gold fell 0.4% to $US1847.35 an ounce, though the precious metal rose 0.1% to $2388.23 in the local currency. The Aussie dollar edged lower to 77.37 US cents
  • Oil prices have also cooled off, with Brent crude down 1% to $US56.03 a barrel, and US oil dropping 0.6% to $US52.92 a barrel
