‘A package was thrown under the window at the front of the office at the staff, it’s got some sort of foil, tin foil … a guy ran in and ran out and did it,’ Mr McGowan told ABC Radio.

‘Because of who I am and the heightened situation with the election on Saturday, they evacuated the office.

‘The police have come so I’ll head down there and make sure my staff are OK and see what’s going on.’

Mr McGowan was at an ABC studio in Perth when the incident occurred.
