‘Sad news for the country’: Jim Molan cancer diagnosis met with bipartisan dismay

What to watch next

Liberal Senator Jim Molan has revealed he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and will step away from parliamentary duties to undergo further tests and treatment.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has led a wave of social media support from both sides of politics wishing the NSW Senator and his family all the best.

“We’ve worked together for over a decade now and you’ve always put your service above all else,” Mr Morrison said.

Former Labor powerbroker Graham Richardson said “he is the example of what you would want an Australian to be … I hope he lives to be 100”.

Nationals Senator Matt Canavan said, “Jim has been in lots of battles and I wish him all the best in this next battle. It’s very sad news for him personally but it’s sad news for the country.”
