Police have charged multiple people after three separate incidents in Perth’s CBD overnight, which left a car submerged in the Swan River.

A 20-year-old man was charged after allegedly hitting a group of people with his car near St Georges Terrace.

Police allege a “physical altercation” occurred between the man and two groups of people on Barrack Street around 8:40pm.

The man is alleged to have driven his car into one of the groups during the incident.

He was arrested at the scene a short time later.

Four people received minor injuries, one of whom remains in a stable condition at Royal Perth Hospital.

The man, who is from Huntingdale, has been charged with four counts of unlawful act or omission with intent to harm, endangering the life, health or safety of any person.

He was refused bail and was due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday.

Police have urged anyone with further information or vision of the incident to contact them.

Teenagers charged after gathering

Meanwhile, several police officers were injured after being allegedly assaulted by three teenagers in East Perth overnight.

Police were called to serviced apartments on Adelaide Terrace at about 1:30am, following reports of a group of unapproved people inside two of the rooms.

It is alleged two 17-year-old girls and a boy, also 17, were acting in a disorderly manner and failed to move on when asked to do so by police.

It is further alleged one of the girls and the boy assaulted officers before and during two of the arrests, while the second girl allegedly obstructed officers and assaulted police on two occasions.

Three police officers received minor injuries.

Two of the teenagers, a girl from Girrawheen and a boy from Banksia Grove, have been charged with assaulting an officer and for disorderly behaviour in a public place.

The second girl, from Landsdale, has been charged with obstructing officers and two counts of assaulting a public officer.

All three teenagers are due to appear in court on August 10.

Car retrieved from Swan River

In a third incident, police are investigating  the circumstances in which a car was driven into the Swan River just after midnight.

Police received reports of a vehicle submerged in the river around 12:15am, before it was removed by Water Police this morning.

Witness Paul Madden said he was enjoying his usual evening walk when he saw the car go into the river.

“There was this blue car … I just noticed it, and next thing I know, they rev the engine and bump across the curb and plonk themselves in the river,” he said.

Police said the vehicle was believed to have been occupied by two people who left the scene.

“The guy scampered out the driver’s side window and jumped on the roof and then jumped in the water and scampered up and then the two guys wandered off towards the Supreme Court Gardens,” Mr Madden said.

“Normally I’d see a possum or a rat, not this.”
