Queensland warned of projected rise in COVID-19 hospital admissions

What to watch next

Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr John Gerrard says there are 22 people in intensive care with five ventilated, as 18,000 new COVID cases are recorded.

Dr Gerrard said there are 380 other cases in hospital requiring treatment for COVID-19.

He said while hospitalisations are relatively low right now, there are projections the number of people needing the hospital system will escalate substantially in the near future.

“And my colleagues in (the) hospital system need to be prepared for that,” he said.
