Australians face $1,000 in NSW if they fail to register positive rapid antigen results

What to watch next

People who fail to register positive rapid antigen test results with the New South Wales government will be hit with a $1,000 fine, Premier Dominic Perrottet says.

“We made a decision as a government that the registration of that test is mandatory and you will need to register your positive rapid antigen test from January 1,” Mr Perrottet said at a Wednesday morning media conference.

“This health order has been signed off this morning – and in terms of enforcement if someone fails to register a positive rapid antigen test there will be a $1000 fine.”

Mr Perrottet said there would be a “grace period” and fines would not be given until January 19.

He said the results could be registered on the Service NSW app.
