Melbourne restaurant ‘hires’ robot waiters to serve customers’ food

Foodies are loving this Japanese restaurant in the heart of Melbourne where diners are served their food by a robot. 

Superhiro Japanese Restaurant and Bar in the Melbourne CBD has been trialling the use of robot waiters since August last year.

The eatery’s futuristic servers have been delighting diners and popping up all over social media.

Blogger, Abi Su, who goes by Sydney Foodie Gal Pal online, paid Superhiro a visit when holidaying in Melbourne and called it a ‘must-try’ in a video posted to Tikok. 

‘It’s always so exciting when you go to a restaurant and there’s something about it that makes it super interactive,’ she said in the clip.  

‘Ten out of ten experience – would go again.’ 

Abi’s video has racked up more than 57,700 views with many viewers keen to meet Superhiro’s robot waiters. 

‘Oh my god YES! Absolutely trying out this place,’ one person wrote. 

‘We have to go!’ said another.  

Superhiro serves a range of authentic Japanese dishes including the 40cm long Tasmanian salmon sushi roll, katsu curry, signature salmon teriyaki and tempura udon soup. 

Robot servers have become a rising trend recently with more restaurants and cafes across the country ‘hiring’ the gadgets.  

Indonesian restaurant, Ria Ayam Penyet, in Parramatta, Sydney, unveiled their team of robots to order and serve food when they reopened in November, which proved to be a big hit with patrons and on social media.
