Mother charged after running down daughter in car, dragging her for 100m

A 58-year-old woman has been charged after allegedly running down her daughter in a car and dragging her for 100 metres in Sydney’s south overnight.

Fire and Rescue crews alongside paramedics worked for more than an hour to free the woman.

Just after 12am this morning, a woman believed to be in her 20s was struck by a Toyota hatchback on Ash Avenue, Caringbah South and dragged down the road, suffering serious injuries.

She became pinned under the car for more than 90 minutes while paramedics and rescue crews worked to free her.

She was reportedly conscious throughout the ordeal.

The woman was eventually dislodged just after 2am and was taken to St George Hospital in a serious condition with significant leg and arm injuries.

The driver of the car, the woman’s mother from Caringbah South, was subject to a roadside breath test at the scene which allegedly returned a positive result.

She was then taken to Sutherland Police Station for further breath analysis, where she allegedly returned a reading of 0.166.

This afternoon, she was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm (PCA), and high-range PCA.

Her licence has been suspended and she has been granted conditional bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court next Wednesday.
