Mum killed in car crash remembered by her children as the ‘pillar of our family’

The devastated children of an Afghan migrant killed in a car crash have paid tribute to their mother.

Sohaila Mohammadi was described by her loved ones as the pillar of the family.

The 47-year-old mother-of-four was on her way to a friend’s house with her husband, when their van was hit by a BMW, causing it to crash into a tree and burst into flames in Adelaide’s northern suburbs.

Sohaila Mohammadi is being remembered as a loving and caring mother.

“Mum was like any other mum. She was really kind, loving, caring, always giving us the guidance we needed,” Ms Mohammadi’s son Elham Ahmad said.

Elham and his three siblings have to now navigate life without their mother.

At the tree on Main Road in Elizabeth where the crash happened, the family laid flowers in honour of Ms Mohammadi.

Her husband Noor survived the crash because members of the public helped pull him out before the flames enveloped the vehicle.

He is currently recovering in hospital.

“Those actions will never be forgotten, for saving my father (we are) just extremely grateful. We are extremely grateful together,” Elham said.

The 51-year-old driver from Munno Para was charged with dangerous driving causing death and harm.

He was granted bail and is set to appear at the Elizabeth Magistrates’ Court on March 9.

Ms Mohammadi’s family says she deserves justice.

“The death of my mother has to be justified through any means and justice must be served at the end of the day,” Elham said.

For her loved ones, Ms Mohammadi will live on in their memories as a caring wife, mother, sister and daughter.

“She was the pillar of our family without her everything will be missed in the end,” Elham said.
