Woman thought partner was dead after allegedly stabbed by brother

A Melbourne woman thought her partner was dead after he was allegedly stabbed and run over by his brother during a confrontation.

Dakota Blacker told 9News she feared for her life when her partner Madison Natano’s brother Elias allegedly confronted them at their home in Kalkallo about 10pm Saturday.

“It just happened so fast,” Ms Blacker said.

The pursuit ended when the alleged thief smashed into three unsuspecting motorists.

The 26-year-old father was allegedly stabbed multiple times before he was run over.

Ms Blacker locked herself inside until help arrived.

“I ran over to Madison down the road – I thought he was dead – I was just in a lot of shock and crying,” she said.

Neighbours stayed with the bleeding father until help arrived.

“He was saying ‘help’ … he did hold my hand, I was just trying to keep him talking.”

Ms Blacker said that kindness could’ve saved her partner’s life, with the 26-year-old now in a stable condition in hospital.

“I’m just so thankful that they were there to help him because he wouldn’t be here with us today without them,” Ms Blacker said.

Elias Natano is facing more than 40 charges following the incident.

Police allege the 27-year-old’s criminal activities did not end with the attack on his brother.

Officers allege he then carjacked a police car, leading them on a high-speed chase across Melbourne’s north.

“Officers approached the driver who allegedly advanced on them with a knife after a pursuit was initiated, he then crashed into a barrier on Mickleham Road, Mickleham,” Victoria Police said.

“The man then allegedly stole the police vehicle before it collided at slow speed with several civilian vehicles on Barry Road.

“The driver then fled on foot but was arrested a short time later.”

A man is filmed skipping away from police after allegedly stabbing and running over his own brother.

Video shows a man gripping a blood-covered knife as he is trailed by dogs and tactical police before appearing to skip and leap across the road.

“Thankfully no one else was killed or seriously injured as a result of it,” Victoria Police Superintendent Nigel Howard said.

The 27-year-old’s charges include attempted murder, intentionally cause serious injury, assault, attempted aggravated burglary, dangerous driving causing serious injury, affray, aggravated carjacking, theft of motor vehicle, threaten to assault police officer and numerous traffic offences.

He has also been charged with reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and criminal damage by fire in relation to a separate incident in Mickleham on April 3 that has left a woman in hospital with serious injuries, police said.

He faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today and did not apply for bail.

The court was told he was withdrawing from drugs at the time of his alleged offending.
