A woman accused of fatally stabbing another in Adelaide’s north has been charged with murder and will face court today, police say.

The 26-year-old woman, from Pennington, was arrested after police and paramedics were called to a block of units on Brooklyn Terrace at Kilburn just after 1am on Thursday.

The victim, a 45-year-old woman also from Pennington, was found with a stab wound to her leg.

She was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition but died hours later.

Yesterday, police said they were questioning the 26-year-old and expected to formally charge her.

Last night, they confirmed she had been charged with murder.

The woman was refused bail ahead of an appearance in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

The two women were known to each other, police said.

Investigations are ongoing and police have asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
