Channel Ten releases a first look trailer for MasterChef Fans & Faves

Channel 10 unveiled a first look trailer for MasterChef Fans & Faves on Monday.

The new series will see 12 MasterChef favourites across the 13 seasons return to the kitchen, and compete for the title alongside 12 of the finest home cooks in Australia.

The beginning of the clip sees season one winner Julie Goodwin revealing that cooking for her is ‘all about love’ as she prepares a strawberry dessert at home.

‘Cooking for me has grown out of a desire to feed my family, to feed my friends, to nourish people and to make them happy. It’s all about heart. It’s all about love,’ Julie says, as she gets to work in the kitchen.  

Season seven winner Billie McKay is then seen picking oranges from a tree as she reveals why she’s been drawn back to the cooking franchise.

‘I’m coming back because I love food so much. I love cooking so much and there is something about that kitchen that’s sort of drawing me back,’ she says.

The trailer continues with season 10 winner Sashi Cheliah showing off his impressive skills in the kitchen as he reveals that competing in MasterChef twice is ‘a dream come true’.  

Viewers are then introduced to some of the show’s adoring fans who will compete to be crowned the winner of MasterChef Fans & Faves. 

Montana, a TikTok influencer, announces she wants to take her success from social media into the kitchen, while Daniel, a fireman from the Northern Territory, is keen to show that he’s more than just ‘a bloke from Darwin’.

The Fans and Faves will be joined in the MasterChef kitchen by returning judges Melissa Leong, Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen.   

In an interview with Yahoo in November, Julie admitted she was ‘petrified’ about returning to the MasterChef kitchen, despite winning the 2009 season. 

‘I’m quite petrified about it,’ she confessed. ‘I watch [MasterChef] every year and I’ve just watched the standard rise and rise and the food get more and more amazing.’

But she added that she’s curious to see if she measures up to the recent batch of cooks that have passed through the MasterChef Australia kitchen. 

‘It’ll be really interesting to see if my style will cut it these days in the MasterChef kitchen,’ she admitted.

Julie said she was ‘grateful to have been given another chance’ to return to the beloved cooking show and was ‘looking forward to it’, describing it as ‘a lot of fun’.
