ASX set to open higher, last day of best month since the 1980s

Summary

  • ASX200 futures up 39 points. The index closed 0.5% lower on Friday, but up 0.9% for the week. It remains 11% ahead for the month
  • On Wall Street on Friday the Dow gained 0.1%, the S&P 500 gained 0.2%, and Nasdaq gained 0.9%. VIX closed at 20.8
  • Iron ore up 1% to $US129.62 a tonne. For oil Brent crude is up 0.8% to $US48.18 a barrel while West Texas Intermediate dropped 0.4% to $US45.53 a barrel
  • Spot gold declined 1.5% to $US1787.79 per ounce
